This original doodle was awarded to a second grade class that won a nationwide contest to design and construct a fabric banner incorporating six of Eric Carles' books. Carle honored the winning class with a personal visit to their school, where he apparently created this doodle as a prize.After the contest, the winning banner was hung alongside other submissions in Massachusetts before being exhibited in Children's Museums across the United States and Japan for the next three years. The banner now hangs in the front hall of the school alongside a photograph of the class posing with their design.
